Disconnect the Battery: Always start any electrical work on your vehicle by disconnecting the negative terminal on your battery. 2. Remove the Old Shift Motor: The shift motor will be attached to the transfer case with a series of bolts. Once the bolts are removed, you should be able to slide the shift motor out. There will also be an electrical connector that youll need to disconnect. 3. Install the New Shift Motor: Connect the electrical connector to your new shift motor, then slide it into place on the transfer case. Replace the bolts and tighten them with your socket set and ratchet. 4. Reconnect the Battery: Finally, reconnect the negative terminal on your battery.
